President Bush plans to lend his voice to divisive forces in America this evening in his State of the Union address before Congress. Rather than rejecting hateful rhetoric, President Bush plans to lend his support for excluding gay and lesbian Americans from equal marriage rights. President Bush's choice leads one to question what kind of "compassionate conservatism" is at the heart of a policy that seeks to trample American principles of fairness and equality?
