Log Cabin Republicans Sued

April 01, 2005

"Improper business and financial practices of Patrick Guerriero?" Uh oh. Superior Court of the District of Columbia documents to follow.

developing...

Dwight Lodge, former chief operating officer of Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) and Liberty Education Forum (LEF), has filed a lawsuit claiming he was wrongfully terminated after uncovering improper business and financial practices of Patrick Guerriero, LCR and LEF’s president. Mr. Guerriero fired Mr. Lodge following a November 12 meeting that was requested by Lodge to discuss his concerns over improper and well documented business and financial practices that were discovered while deploying new financial systems. Mr. Guerriero cavalierly and inexplicably dismissed Lodge’s concerns and within three weeks began disseminating defamatory rumors in LCR’s offices and chapters throughout the country.

On December 22, 2004 Mr. Guerriero terminated Mr. Lodge’s employment, citing an alleged and previously undocumented sub-standard job performance.

"Mr. Lodge’s termination reveals all too clearly that this sudden adverse action was wholly without cause and in retaliation for the exposure by Mr. Lodge of potentially illegal and unethical financial and business practices by Mr. Guerriero. The adverse action of Mr. Guerriero and the board of director’s ratification of his adverse action have caused, and continues to cause Mr. Lodge irreparable harm and extreme emotional distress," said Lisa Alexis Jones, counsel for Mr. Lodge.

The complaint, filed in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, cites five causes of action including; breach of contract, wrongful termination, breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, negligent supervision and defamation and seeks to recoup lost compensation as well as compensatory damages, punitive damages and other penalties.
