STEERS AND QUEERS

October 20, 2004

I certainly hope so, but somehow, I doubt it.

Yours truly will be blogging to you all, live from the Skeletons Ball in Dallas, TX. The party weekend is over Halloween (naturally), and should be quite the event. It is the first Halloween circuit event in Dallas with hopes it becomes annual. With DJ Alyson Calagna spinning the main event, it should be tight. Personally, I am most excited about the closing party being the Global Grooves Tour with DJ DeMarko & Circuit Mom spinning.

I’ve done my share of traveling for hot parties… but Dallas has never been on the itinerary to date. I’ve met several-a-hotties from the Lone Star State, and yet never been all that motivated to get there myself (and none of them seem to appreciate the “Steers and Queers” joke). Dallas used to have quite a bad rap for being an extremely homophobic environment, but all that seems to be lightening up. We’ll see… you can trust yours truly for an honest opinion.

If you’re interested in going, check out the promoters web site: www.texascircuitboyz.com

Tickets are almost sold out, so check it out soon. If you’re down south (or not), it’s a great alternative to the ‘Orleans scene for Halloween weekend.

HOT, HARD BODY & SEXY LIKE WHAT!

October 07, 2004

Perv… this isn’t about sex. Well, not yet at least…

Brando here, sorry about not being around too much these past few days, but I have been working my ass off (or on, rather) getting ready for the upcoming White Party and my random trips to LA & Vegas. But amidst all the hustle, I’ve come across a few hot things that I think you should all check out.

ANDAIN
FAR from mundane, this trio is tearing up the charts with their song “Beautiful Things.” It’s in regular rotation here on Circuit Candy, and if you’ve heard it, it’s haunted you. Usually, I prefer dirty house, but this track is hot. The Gabriel & Dresden remix is rather trancey. Vocals are sung like spun sugar by Mavie Marcos (how gay was that analogy?), one part of the trio. The group consists of Mavie, David Penner and Josh Gabriel. Gabriel you may recognize from his work as part of the Gabriel & Dresden remixing team (they have done collaborations for New Order, DJ Tiesto, Way Out West, Rodger Goode, 4 Strings, Paul Oakenfold and Beber & Tamara). Apparently, David Penner has his undergraduate degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Mavie Marcos is currently at Bastyr University, studying for her master’s in naturopathic medicine. All that and brains too. A bit intimidating, but you can hear it in the track. The song gives trance an intelligent and sultry angle that is so often overlooked in the genre.

TOM WELLING’S ASS
OK, I know I am the last one in the world to appreciate Smallville’s Tom Welling, but I got to be honest, I only turned into the season premier because he was completely naked on the commercial. It worked. I’m hooked.

BRITNEY’S PREROGATIVE

OK, it was a knell for Bobby’s career, why cover it? Other than teaching pop-america how to spell “prerogative” the song really serves no real purpose. I was so scared because I love Brit like I love my Louis Vuitton, but I didn’t like the damn song the first time around, and I doubted I’d like it the second time ‘round. Now I understand that she is bitter, terribly, at the media, but it didn’t really need to be iterated by covering one of Bobby’s old “hits.” She actually did a good job on it, and thank Madonna that she didn’t do the whole “It’s my-my-my-my-my-my-my-my-my-my…” hook like first time around. But if you have any doubts, watch the video. She looks AMAZINGLY fit and hotter than ever. In the words of the legendary Nomi Malone, “It doesn’t suck.” I just hope the mixes give it some real power.

Alright bois and gurlz… that’s all for now. Hit comments if you have any issues you’d like to be addressed. And if there’s any music you’d like to hear here at Circuit Candy, let us know!
